Impact Speaking & Debating

Influence with purpose — in every classroom, conversation, or career.

Public speaking isn’t just a performance — it’s power. The power to express complex ideas clearly, respond on the spot, and move hearts and minds through language.

Whether debating, presenting, or delivering a speech, mastery of spoken communication gives students the tools to lead, persuade, and stand out with presence.

Our program doesn’t just train students to speak — it equips them to listen actively, think critically, and influence powerfully in any setting.

Everything is Persuasion

By drawing from rhetorical theory, classical debate, and the world’s most influential speakers, students learn to speak with precision, presence, and lasting impact.

# 1: Command Any Audience

Think quickly. Argue fearlessly. Win with clarity.

Break down arguments on the spot using logic, structure, and persuasive presence.

  • Build Confidence – Speak without fear or hesitation in any context
  • Think on Your Feet – Practise real-time response under pressure.
  • Master Debate Strategy – Learn rebuttals, framing, and tone control.

#2: Speak with Presence and Charisma

Hold attention. Build trust. Speak with presence.

Use voice, posture, and rhythm to command the room and deliver with clarity, authenticity, and emotional impact.

  • Control the Room – Master posture, pacing, and vocal rhythm to engage any audience.
  • Speak Authentically – Develop a natural, confident tone that projects sincerity and strength.
  • Engage Emotionally – Harness storytelling and tone to create connection and memorability.

#3: Influence Through Structure and Story

Organise ideas clearly. Deliver with impact. Leave a lasting impression.

From persuasive speeches to impromptu responses, students learn how to structure ideas for maximum clarity and resonance.

  • Structure Like a Pro – Use rhetorical patterns like problem-solution, and rule of three.
  • Refine Your Message – Cut the clutter,  and sharpen delivery for lasting impact.
  • Speak Across Contexts – Adapt seamlessly between debates, presentations, and discussions.

Confidence is built on Evidence

When the pressure’s on, great speakers don’t just recite — they respond, connect, and compel.

Here is how we build evidence.

The Presence Method

Perceive. React. Connect.

PERCEIVE
– Reading the Room

  • Audience Awareness — Observe tone, energy, and power dynamics

  • Strategic Listening — Tune in to spoken and unspoken signals

  • Situation Analysis — Adjust style for calm, chaos, or confrontation

REACT
– Tight Verbal Reflexes

  • Quick Thinking — Practise spontaneous responses under time pressure

  • Argument on Demand — Generate persuasive ideas in real time

  • Debate Reflexes — Learn how to counter, reframe, and redirect

CONNECT
— Move your audience

  • Presence Training — Use voice, breath, posture, and pace to command the room

  • Persuasion Psychology — Tap into emotion, identity, and belief

  • Everyday Influence — Apply these tools in school, conversation, and leadership

The Science Behind Speaking

Most programs teach performance. We train perception.

Students learn the psychology, sociology, and behavioural dynamics behind how people think, react, and decide — and how to speak in a way that resonates.

⊕   Cognitive Science — Understand how people process language, emotion, and decision-making — and speak in ways that land.

⊕   Social Dynamics — Read the room, navigate group energy, and influence with awareness, not dominance.

⊕   Behavioural Psychology — Use science-backed techniques to shape trust, attention, and response.

From Theory to Instinct

Weekly Writing Tasks

Build style, structure, and deep understanding through writing.

Every Impact Speaking and debate lesson includes weekly writing tasks designed to enhance the students ability to design arguments and connect with the audience emotionally. Students learn to express deep ideas with clarity, structure, and confidence — through tailored feedback.

These tasks not only reinforce comprehension but also develop the habits of thoughtful, articulate expression that last a lifetime.

Class

FAQ’s

We know choosing the right course raises questions — especially when it comes to your child’s time, interests, and goals. These answers might help.

What age group is this class designed for?

There are groups for every age, grade 3 to grade 12.

We carefully place students in a class that matches their ability.

My child is shy — will they be okay in this class?

Absolutely. In fact, many of our strongest students began shy.
We foster a no-judgement, safe pace where “mistakes are part of the process”  and students feel safe to speak freely and take creative risks. Over time, students build real confidence grounded in the evidence of their own skills.

What kind of speaking and debate will my child learn?

We teach real-world persuasive speaking, not just formal debating.
Students practise quick thinking, clear argument structure, body language, emotional presence, and persuasion psychology — so they can speak effectively in school presentations, social situations, leadership settings, and yes, even rowdy debates.

Do students get feedback?

Yes — detailed, realtime feedback is given to students so they know what they did well, what they could do better next time.

Students also receive class summaries and weekly speaking challenges to help them apply skills in and beyond class.

Will this help with school assessments?

Yes.
Many students report dramatic improvements in their oral presentations, class discussions, and written arguments at school. They also gain a deeper understanding of structure, audience, tone, and how to respond effectively under pressure.

What if my child already has speech classes at school?

Most school programs focus on scripted performance.
Our course focuses on strategy, improvisation, and persuasion under real pressure — skills that go far beyond memorised delivery. Students learn to read the room, react with speed, and connect with real influence.

My child needs help with reading and writing — is this still the right class?

If your child struggles with reading and writing, Impact Speaking & Debate can actually accelerate their progress.
Strong speaking skills build the foundation for clearer thinking, structured argumentation, and confident self-expression — which naturally supports reading comprehension and writing. If your child needs more focused help with reading or essay skills, we recommend pairing this course with our Classical Reading or Precision Writing program. Many students do both for the strongest results.

How does this course help with leadership, interviews, or everyday communication?

This program trains students to speak with confidence, clarity, and purpose in any setting — not just the classroom.

Through constant practice, real-time feedback, and high-level discussion, students learn to connect, persuade, and lead conversations. These skills translate directly to leadership roles, school interviews, casual debates, and professional situations where clear, impactful communication makes a difference.
